Veteran Assassin's Creed Developers Join Google to Work on Stadia Games

Google has hired developers to work on the Assassin's Creed series for its first game studio, which will focus on the production of the Stadia title.

VGC found out that Google had some of the first people for its Stadia game studio in Montreal, who previously held senior positions in the Assassin's Creed series at Ubisoft. Indicating confirmed these works by checking their LinkedIn profile.

The first is Sebastian Peuel, now general director of Google's studios after being an executive producer on Assassin's Creed for just 10 years.

The second is François Poland, who heads production at Google's studio, but was previously executive director at Ubisoft Quebec. He produced Assassin's Creed Syndicate and also served as senior producer on Assassin's Creed 3.

Third, Mathieu Leduc joined Google's studio as art director after previously being the art director on Assassin's Creed 2, as well as Watch Dogs 1 and 2.

He joined Jed Raymond, Google's vice president of games and entertainment, who joined the studio in March 2019 after working on Ubisoft - Assassin's Creed 2, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell on the Blacklist.

Google's game studio will focus on creating a first-party for its new game-streaming service Stadia. In our Google Stadia review, we said that it "gives the highest Fidelity graphics and lowest input lag of any game streaming service," but also noted that "Google's game streaming service currently has a lot of holes."

For starters, some of Stadia's biggest games don't even flow in true 4K, and Google had to offer refunds to people buying December's free games in November.
