Vivo V17 India Variant to Feature Hole-Punch Display, L-Shaped Quad Camera Setup

Vivo is holding a press event in India next week, where the company hopes to launch a new smartphone in its V-series, Vivo V17. The company launched the global variant of Vivo S1 Pro rebranded as Vivo V17 in Russia a week ago. However, the India model is once again expected to be slightly different from the Russia model. The company's press invitations hint at a new smartphone with a hole-punch display, different from the Vivo V17 launched in Russia.

Leaked photos of the upcoming Vivo V17 before the formal launch of the phone in India revealed some more information. According to 91Mobiles, which cites a company official for the phone's images and specifications, the Vivo V17 will feature an L-shaped quad rear camera setup with a hole-punch display. Both of these design details distinguished it from the Vivo V17 model launched in Russia and the Vivo S1 Pro global version launched in the Philippines late last month.

According to the report, Vivo V17 can be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 675 SoC. The phone is expected to have a 4,500mAh battery and a 6.44-inch OLED display. The phone will support 18W fast charging.

Instead of the diamond-shaped camera module on the Vivo S1 Pro, the Vivo V17 is likely to feature an L-shaped quad-camera setup with a 48-megapixel primary camera sensor. Other cameras include an 8-megapixel secondary camera and a two-megapixel two-camera sensor. On the front side, the Vivo V17 is expected to have a 32-megapixel camera sensor.

The smartphone will ship in two color variants; Glacier Ice and Midnight Ocean. The phone will reportedly be made available with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage options. It is still unclear whether it will be the only variant available in India. Vivo V17 is also expected to feature the in-display fingerprint sensor.

It will be interesting to see how Vivo is priced at V17 in the crowded mid-range smartphone segment in India. Vivo is expected to launch Vivo V17 in India on 9 December.
