Epic Releases Patch Notes For 11.20 Update

Chapter 2 of Fortnite is in full swing right now, but it appears that there are some surprises left in store before Season 1 ends. Epic Games has announced that Season 1 of Chapter 2 of Fortnite has been extended and will now conclude in February. As a reason behind the delay, Epic Games mentions that it has new game features, rewards and an event that the developer says should not be missed. Epic Games has yet to find out what's in its bag for Season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 2, but a big new year has surfaced in the leak.

Epic Games mentioned in an official blog post that it "got more content for you to uncheck, including new game features, free rewards and a live experience you won't want to miss". The post also mentions new holiday-themed updates. Although Epic Games has yet to clarify anything, leaks suggest some changes to the Risky Reels locations are in the pipeline and a major surprise could also come to light on January 1, 2020.

Epic Games has extended season 1 of Fortnite Chapter 2 until early February, making it one of the longest-running seasons in the history of the game. Last year, Epic Games came up with a "14-day Fortnite" program for the holidays, suggesting that the Season 1 expansion is no coincidence. Epic Games says the added time allows players to award more season prizes, but we expect a major holiday-themed event to end soon.

The company has also announced that with the Fortnite v11.20 update, it will add the option to play the PC version of the game using Microsoft DirectX 12, promising better CPU performance and delivery of rendering jobs. The PC version of Fortnite currently requires a Microsoft DirectX 11-capable graphics card, but Microsoft DirectX 12 support will pave the way for higher frame rates with a stable output. Epic Games plans to bring more features in the future that can take advantage of the Microsoft DirectX 12 API.
