The new report has some updates about the future of DC films, including Superman, The Suicide Squad, Green Lantern Corps, Batgirl, and more.
Variety says that Michael B. Jordan pitched Warner Bros. on an idea for Superman earlier this year. The actor's schedule has reportedly been on the move, but insiders say that by 2023, a new take on Superman could come. An interview comes a week after it was published where Superman actor Henry Cavill said, "The cape is still in the closet. It's still mine."
For The Suicide Squad, the film will reportedly carry an R rating similar to Joker and the upcoming Harley Quinn film Birds of Pre. The latter film is said to have gone through a reshoot which brought in a higher test screen number. It was previously reported that John Wick's director had come to help with some new action sequences.
Geoff Johns is said to be employed in a script by the film Green Lantern Corps by the end of the year. Arrowverse producer Greg Berlanti is already working on a Green Lantern show and may have different involvement in the film. The Green Lantern Corps also received J.J. Abram's production company Bad Robot. Abrams' company has signed a new first-look deal with Warner Bros.
Ezra Miller is reportedly set to star in The Flash after the actor completes work on Fantastic Beasts 3. Bumblebee writer Christina Hodgson will write the script and then reportedly work on a Batgirl film.
As the Aquaman spinoff The Trench, the film has no director yet. Warner Bros. also reportedly intends to begin filming the sequel to Aquaman in early 2021. The sequel is scheduled for a December 2022 release.
HBO Max is already getting a Green Lantern show but the streaming service is also getting new movies. Insiders say that we can expect DC films starring unknown actors with budgets under $ 65 million to hit HBO Max at some point.
