Pokémon Go's New Special Research Quest Adds Shadow Zapdos

Pokémon Go players are reportedly receiving a new special research discovery called A Challenging Development. A challenging development special research allegedly has similar functions and rewards as looming in shadow special research. After completing the new special research quest and defeating Team Rocket Leader Giovanni, players will find a different Shadow Legend Pokémon.

A challenging development will allow players to capture a shadow Zapdos after defeating Giovanni. After catching Shadow Zapdos, players will need to purge it with Stardust. Dataminers have also found evidence to add shadow mattress data to the game. This suggests that a new team rocket-themed special research discovery may be coming soon.

It should be noted that only a few players have discovered A Challenging Development Special Research, while others do not like it. This may suggest that players must complete the looming in search of shadows before unlocking the new one. However, this has not been confirmed yet.
