Xbox 'Lockhart' Console Still Planned for 2020, Will Be Cheaper and Less Powerful Than 'Anaconda' |
Microsoft plans to release a more affordable and less powerful Xbox console for 2020, according to a report. There are much speculation and confusion about whether Microsoft will release one or two Xbox gaming consoles in 2020. But it looks under the Project Scarlett by Microsoft with the powerful console codenamed 'Anaconda', another would be less powerful gaming. The console is named 'Lockhart'. And just in case Lockhart was acquainted, it was originally rumored to be part of two Xbox gaming consoles set for an alleged 2020 launch.
Going back to June, Microsoft announced that Project Scarlet is about a high-end Xbox gaming console named Anaconda. By the way, it seems that more are planned by the Redmond giant, as a Kotaku report claimed that Microsoft is actually planning to release a low-cost Xbox console for Holiday 2020, The codename is Lockhart. What has been reported about this cheap alternative to Anaconda is that it will be digital-only, meaning that it will not have a disk drive, much like the Xbox One-Digital version.
The report further claims that it is easy to think of Lockhart as the successor to the Xbox One S with a similar performance disparity. The ideal target performance is said to be 1440p resolution and 60 frames per second at Lockhart. Additionally, it will reportedly be heavily promoted with Microsoft's Project xCloud streaming service and Xbox Game Pass subscriptions that allow users to access a vast library of games, large and small, including all-new first-party games.
The Xbox team did not confirm or refute the rumors, with a Microsoft spokesperson telling Kotaku, "We do not comment on rumors or speculation."
