Aparajitha Ayodhya: Kangana Ranaut turns producer with film on Ram Mandir-Babri Masjid case

After co-directing Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, Kangana Ranaut is set to don a producer's hat. The Mumbai Mirror reports that the actor will step into production with a film titled Aparajita Ayodhya, which will explore the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title dispute case. He is already in advanced stages of discussion with a top studio.

“The Ram temple has been a burning subject for hundreds of years. As a child born in the 80s, I have grown up hearing the name Ayodhya in a negative light, because the land on which the king was born, which was a symbol of sacrifices, became a matter of property dispute. The case has changed the face of Indian politics and the verdict embodied the secular spirit of India and put an end to the centuries-old controversy.

On November 9, the Supreme Court gave its verdict in the dispute over the ownership of 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya. The court directed that a trust be built within three months to build the Ram temple. It also said that Muslims should be given 5 acres of alternative land in Ayodhya to build a mosque.

Aparajita Ayodhya will be penned by KV Vijayendra Prasad behind the epic Bahubali franchise. While the subject has already been screened by many documentary filmmakers, Kangana said Aparajita Ayodhya will stand out as it shows the hero's journey from skepticism to faith.

“What makes Aparajita Ayodhya different is that it is a hero's journey from a non-believer to a believer. And, in a way, it reflected my personal journey, I decided it would be a suitable subject for my first build. It is not yet known whether Kangana will also act in her first production venture.

Kangana also said that Aparajita would pay tribute to the unwavering faith of Ayodhya devotees and how the country remained a "country of believers". He said, "I saw devotees refusing to come out of the rain, arguing how they could be hot and dry when Ram Lalla was wet and cold."

“Despite all efforts to end our sense of unity and secularism, we remain a nation of believers, we remain undefeated. Therefore, the prefix 'Aparajita', which means undaunted, "she said.

The announcement comes after Kangana's sister Rangoli Chandel announced on Twitter last week that the actor is starting her own production house Manikarnika Films in the name of the legendary queen of Jhansi.
