GTA 4 Disappeared From Steam, and Here's Why

Rockstar Games officially confirmed the reason for the mysterious disappearance of Grand Theft Auto 4 from Steam and is the game for Windows Live.

Rockstar Games confirmed that "Microsoft is no longer supporting games for Windows Live, it is not possible to generate the additional keys needed to continue the current version of the game."

The option to buy Grand Theft Auto 4 disappeared over the weekend, leading to speculation over the cause. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was not available for purchase due to license issues with some songs, and Rockstar patched the game with updated music tracks when GTA 4 encountered similar issues.

Instead, Rockstar confirmed that Games for Windows Live, service in 2013, was shut down with Microsoft. Games for Windows Live has created other issues with Steam games including titles such as Batman: Arkham City and Dark Soul.

Curiously, Rockstar has not confirmed exactly when to expect Grand Theft Auto 4 to return to PC. Instead, a Rockstar spokesperson  "We are looking at other options to distribute GTAIV for PCs and will share more information as soon as possible."

Does this mean that an update will be available on Port Steam or Rockstar Launcher (or both) is still undisclosed? In the meantime, Grand Theft Auto 4 review for Rockstar's adventure in Liberty City.
