NBC Orders Comedy Based On the Life of Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson

During NBC Universal's presentation at the TCA Winter Press Tour, it was announced that NBC had ordered a new series focused on WWE Superstars' "Formative Years" and global box office champion Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The 11-episode single-cam comedy is produced by Nahanchaka Khan (Fresh of the Boat, Don't Trust the Bee) and Johnson himself. Johnson will appear in every episode, but the search continues for a young actor to portray a childhood version of him.

The pilot was co-written by Khan and Jeff Chiang (Don't Trust the Bee, American Dad!).

"I've talked about this wild and unpredictable and unbelievable childhood I had," Johnson told reporters on hand through the video. "I have heard many stories, many of them unbelievable, but all of them are true. You will get to see the havoc of Young Rock on the streets of Hawaii. I should be arrested while doing a lot of things that I shouldn't. We get evicted. Was done. Away from the island and in all places, Nashville, Tennessee, "he shared.

"Imagine me in the city of Nashville, listening to country music at age 15, buying my first car off the crack for $ 70. We go into my high school years as Young Rock, and Miami My role as a football star's varsity. Until I got out of my position by a young man named Warren Sapp who became the greatest defensive fixture ever. "

The series will be produced by Nahnchaka Khan, Dwayne Johnson, Jeff Chiang, Denny Garcia, Hiram Garcia, Brian Gewirtz and Jennifer Cares. The show will be produced by Universal Television, Seven Bucks Productions and Fierce Baby Productions.
