Ghoomketu  Full Movie, Review, Story

Cast: Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Anurag Kashyap, Raghubir Yadav, Ila Arun, Swanand Kirkire
Director: Pushpendra Nath Mishra

The loyalty of the Saibal Chatterjee effort is defunct. But writer-director Pushpendra Nath Mishra's comedy has started to create a huge buzz, which increases the passion for Bollywood in the small town of India. Its purpose in Mumbai-style films is never to make an identity. Some jibes are borderline funny, but this tale of a nondescript wordsmith who wants to write a new life in the city of Tinsel is utterly disappointing.

The plot is highly comic. Mahona, a 30-man from Uttar Pradesh, avoids the addiction of his life and arrives in Mumbai in the hope of becoming a screenwriter. But any prospect of his (mis) feats is described as a rollercoaster ride that he quickly becomes frustrated. Ghoomketu is a vapour-fit and start-up affair that flows between a semi-rural family and the film industry without any kind of rhythm. This is despite the unambiguous self-reflective elements in the screenplay: Mishra has his roots in Mahona, Lucknow district.
The titular hero (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) has no love for his irritable father (Raghubir Yadav). He shouts slogans for autorickshaws and trucks, pen wedding cards and writes political rally songs while he waits for his big break. He muses up the courage to try a break from the past, but the future he aspires to slip from his fist.

Ghoomketu seeks employment in the local newspaper Gudagudi. The editor (Brijendra Kala) has no place for the job-seeker but presents the protagonist with a primer on the art of writing Bollywood potterollers. Does the book bring Ghoomketu with good wishes? This is the question that the remaining answers to the film.

After sticking for years after streaming on Zee 5, Ghoomketu feels essentially dated. The presence of the late Razzaq Khan in the cast in mid-2016 is a legend. Apart from the fact that the role of the late actor remains, the film's storytelling style also reiterates obsolescence.

The pen-pusher is at the end of his tether when, in a mass wedding, he is confronted with the wrong girl. He does not really indulge himself in glory. He not only shakes the bride, he also refuses to see her face because she is not expected to be his youth. This is where he loses us.
Within days of the wedding, Ghoomketu, such as Aunty Santo (Ila Arun), flew to Mumbai with a family photo album. His uncle, Guddan (Swanand Kirkire), a grey youth leader, vows to bring his nephew back to the family, but the police have no picture of Ghoomketu.

In Mumbai, Inspector Badlani (Anurag Kashyap), a corrupt and domineering policeman, is tasked to find Ghoomketu and bring him back to UP on the next train. But the faceless constable's incompetence keeps getting in the way. A 30-day ultimatum is later given by the police chief; Ghoomketu also has money for only one month's rent. This is a race against time for two men.

Don't expect a rip cat and mouse game here. The writer must be desperate to flag off the film's script, but his pursuit never elicits the urge for life and death. Furthermore, the comic ability of Inspector Badlani's disqualification is barely tapped. Not even for a moment does it seem that either Ghoomketu or Badlani have the urge to get out of their skin and break.

Perfect comedy comes with nothing that can bring a deep belly laugh, let alone a smile on the lips. While the editor of the newspaper threw sporadic lights at Bollywood-style conventions that Ghoomketu should keep in mind while churning on a screenplay, aspiring writers in his part are shifting a goalpost from one story to another as a producer Huh.

When Ghoomketu writes a play, he is asked to give comedy. When he finishes a comedy script, the producer wants him to write a Star Trek-style science-fiction with Spock Looks. What's more, he is also a film in the horror genre - a quirk in the heart of the film presented by Bloodbath Films under the pretext of the film and titled Bloody Pool.

When it comes time for the aspiring writer to try his hand at romance, Ranveer Singh (a shadow of today's arrogant star, Callow Shadow) and Sonakshi Sinha team up to change the climax scene of the DDLJ train station.

Amitabh Bachchan also agreed to wear the film's flag. He showcases the costumes of a prosecuting attorney within a film. Chitrangada Singh and Lauren Gottlieb also disappear in a blink of an eye. But all of this adds no lasting glow to all-round vacancy.

Ghoomketu circles in circles in search of a centre. This is not one. Lead actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui is inspired by an undercook character whose intentions seem arbitrary, there is no meat to dig his teeth. Other members of the cast, many of them proven volumes, do little more than swim around the limpets.

Raghubir Yadav, as the warm-hearted, rave and rant of a rural family. The rationale that makes up his lawsuit is inversely proportional to the scale he scales. Ila Arun, as the protagonist's protagonist, and Swanand illuminate the gritty things at times. But everything they do can offset the overalls of the film.

And yes, Anurag Kashyap played the role of a cop half-heartedly, which makes you wonder why he accepted being part of the film, and on the wrong side of the camera at the time.

The blur design on the protagonist's colourful shirt reflects the nature of the film. It seeks attentiveness but the flowers of the ghoomketu fall flat. The film tries a lot to stand out, but its legs are not strong enough to hold the weight of its ambition. It falls into a heap.
