PS5 and Xbox Series X GPU and Memory Specs Leak, Report Says |
New information on alleged specs, including the GPU (or 'graphics card') and memory for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X next-gen consoles has reportedly been leaked, making it possible for us, unofficially, on these two new consoles Have a better look.
According to a lengthy Digital Foundry report, as published by Eurogamer, the PS5 will reportedly have a 9.2 teraflop GPU. Compare this to the PS4, which had a theoretical maximum capacity of 1.84 teraflops. The PS5 will reportedly feature GDDR6 memory, similar to the Navi card of AMD's RX 5700 series if you want to compare it to the world of PC gaming.
Overall, the DF report attributes these alleged, unconfirmed PS5's GPU capabilities: 36 custom Navi compute units at 2000MHz (the PS4 Pro uses 36 GCN compute units at 911MHz for reference).
The report also states that the alleged PS5 GPU will be able to switch between the three modes to offer backwards compatibility with PS4 and PS4 Pro titles. Although a "gene 2" mode apparently suggests that the PS5 would normally be running on next-gen games, its two separate "gene 1" and "gene 0" modes allow for backward compatibility, as reported. The Gene 1 mode has exactly the same metrics as the PS4 Pro: 36 Compute Unit, 911 MHz Core Clock and 218 Gb / s memory bandwidth and 64 ROP.
For the alleged Xbox Series X GPU, the report suggests that there is less extensive data but points to some interesting notes. A processor referred to as "Arden" is found in acquired data, but is incomplete. DF is believed to be "clearly sinister as the Xbox Series X GPU, pointing to a possible target of 12 Teraflops. Speculation about the 12 Terraflops has been circulating for some time, and you can read our thoughts." Here's what this means for the Xbox Series X price tag.
"Meanwhile, the PlayStation 5 has the device mentioned in the leaked points toward a device with a balance between price and performance," writes Richard Leadbetter of DF. "We believe we're not predicting a 16GB of GDDR6 and a 1TB SSD, it's still an expensive-looking device - but stacked up against the monstrous Series X, it's clearly magic $ 399 launch price to kill. Chance is there. — Point. "
Of course, all of this information is unofficial so far, and DF's Richard Leadbetter is reportedly dealing with leaked information, so Sony and Microsoft may at once start giving solid information about their next-gen consoles.
